Structured Uncertainty: A Dynamic Approach for Inducing and Studying Creative Expression in Educational Contexts
The purpose of this talk is highlight how providing opportunities for students to engage with uncertainty — in an otherwise structured learning environment — can serve as a catalyst for inducing and studying creative expression in educational contexts. Implications for creativity theory, research, and practice will also be discussed.
By: Dr. Ron Beghetto is a Professor of Educational Psychology and Director of Innovation House at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Beghetto serves as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Creative Behavior and a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Society for the Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts (Div. 10, APA). His research focuses on supporting creative thought and action in educational settings. Prior to joining University of Connecticut, Dr. Beghetto served as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Education and Associate Professor of Education Studies at the University of Oregon.
